Blockchain. The Freedom to Create
It's been several years since I posted anything interesting here, and I think I owe some explanation to my respected audience. This has been a sort of re-evaluation period for me (some say it's the 40's crisis :) ), but let me skip all the general blabbing and get to the technical side right away.

It's been several years since I posted anything interesting here and I think I owe some explanation to my respected audience. This has been a sort of re-evaluation period for me (some say it's the 40's crisis :) ), but let me skip all the general blabbing and get to the technical side right away.

It so happened that I had to work with the least liked tools on a project that was quite interesting, but had to be developed in a not so well organized environment. At the end, how many interesting ideas can one come up with while working with disliked stuff. Finally, it seemed like there's a place for a sharp (or not so sharp) turn in what I am doing. Then blockchain popped up unexpectedly. Well, not so unexpectedly - it's been out there for many years. It's just that I suddenly could see it as an opportunity.

Many people tend to think about crypto currencies and crypto trading when they hear the term "blockchain". Or NFT as a way of "instantly getting rich". Although, that is a significant part of blockchain, it is not what I see in it. For me it is a technology that allows creation of useful projects and sharing thereof with others, while skipping all the limitations, and implications, and, well, complications of the "conventional" world.

One may do many things, but the core question is what would be useful for others. I suddenly remembered that I studied arts at school, so perhaps NFT is the way to go. Perhaps. But not sure. OpenSea.io is full of NFTs, but how many of the collections listed there do have a backing idea? Many are just reworked replicas of concepts developed by others. Almost every single person familiar with the subject of Non-Fungible Tokens is familiar with the "Crypto Punks" collection (it is really famous and tokens are quite expensive). You may visit the site and see how many "[whatever_you_like_to_put_here] Punks" collections there are. I personally doubt any of them is anyhow related to the initial thing. Thus, getting through all this... hmmm... stuff is almost impossible, unless you are a more or less known creator and already have a more or less stable community (which I am not and which I do not). Thus, as tempting as it is, NFT gets out of the way (almost).

It's been my dream for many years to develop a space sim game the way I see it. It's a hobby project, so it takes much time to complete, but, as an experiment, I made a few premium tokens, that would provide holders thereof with some advantages in the game (not really a piece of art and the visual part should be reworked in the future; you may see it yourself here).

Also, I do not think that the aforementioned "sharp turn" should include a complete change of what I am doing. This may be an interesting experience, but I'd say I'd save it for later. I am still too interested in technology.

At that point I thought about the projects I thought to implement in the past, but didn't for different reasons. For instance, a platform for freelancers. It's not that there aren't any - ton is out there functioning and blooming, but I thought I'd do something differently. Still, even once the project is completed and ready to run, go get though the crowd of existing giants. I am still, though, thinking of building such a thing on blockchain. Implement the core as a smart contract - transparent and decentralized approach, and the front end as a simple and easy to use web UI (I would wholeheartedly appreciate your opinions regarding this idea).

However, I decided to start with a smaller and simpler thing - crowdfunding platform. Again, it's not a secret, that there are such platforms out there. Both "conventional" and, so to say, "crypto-based". The latter, however, tend to be biased, in a sort of way, towards either gaming or blockchain related stuff, while my intention is to build a general purpose, easy to use, transparent crowdfunding platform with lowest service fees and free of the limitations of the "conventional" systems (implied by banking, political/geographical circumstances), and let creators create, and supporters support. If you find this interesting, you may find more information on the project on the CFPoly.io website (by the way, the system will go online in a tiny bit more than 2 weeks).

There are a few other projects that I bear in mind, but they are rather naked ideas and need some more thought before I'd share them.

Hope this wasn't boring, and see you at the next post!
